The 2nd Annual Fried Chicken Throw Down will be held at the new Resurfaced lot on 10th Street in Downtown Louisville on Saturday, October 17. The event will run from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is free, and it’s open to all ages. The event is presented by Slow Foods Bluegrass

If you were at Porktoberfest last weekend, you know the drill. All you have to do is insert chicken for pork. If you weren’t there, well, you missed out. But all is well because the drill is simple. Taste all you want! Dishes will be priced $3 for chicken, $2 for vegetarian side and $2 for dessert. And don’t forget to vote before you leave. Your help is needed in determining the winners! It’s all done ballot-style by attendees. The categories are Best Friend Chicken, Best Vegetarian Side and Best Dessert. Winners of each category will receive a $500 cash prize.

The all-local Louisville restaurant lineup for the Fried Chicken Throw Down looks great: Royals Hot Chicken (From Feast BBQ), Wiltshire On Market, Joella's Hot Chicken, Farm to Fork Catering, Over The 9, Roux Louisville, Marketplace Restaurant, Gelato Gilberto, POLLO, MilkWood and Against The Grain Brewery.

Try to taste everything. I suggest taking a partner to share samples with so you don't get full too quick. It worked for Porktoberfest as I was able to easily try everything! And don’t worry about your partner hogging the good stuff—you can always go back for seconds.

Make sure to check out the other events happening at Resurfaced this weekend!

    10th Street and Main
    Louisville, KY 40202

(It’s a vacant parking lot on 10th Street along the Ohio River. But it won’t look anything like a vacant parking lot when you arrive. Expect to see Connect/Disconnect, a public art installation, shipping containers set up as bars and tons of people.)
