For most people, Fall can mean a lot of things. Halloween is right around the corner, football season is starting up, bonfires, mittens, apple cider—you get the picture. But for the fashionista, fall can mean only one thing. It’s boot season, bitches.
With temperatures dropping daily, Chic Geek is wasting no time in grabbing our hot picks for fall. We covet the metallic, we covet the tall. We covet the classic cowboy, we covet the small, Heavens to Frye, we covet them all! With so many choices, finding the perfect outfit for each shoe can be difficult. But Chic Geek has done their homework and we’re letting you cheat off of us. Here’s the study guide for Fall Boots.
We love these equestrian-esque boots from Dot Fox. Go casual-English-chic wearing them with skinny jeans in a dark wash and a lovely tweed sport coat to channel the Fox Hunt old chaps! (extra credit for finding sport coats with elbow patches- we love a good elbow patch for fall).
If classic English tweed is too Downton Abbey and not enough Downtown Alley for your taste, mix it up with a shorter take on a cowboy boot. Wear them with a basic slouchy tee and a pair of second-skin jeans with a wicked texture to channel your rock goddess for day.
And because having a Pop of Red is a style that is evergreen, these booties are a fall essential. Pair these with inky-slinky black leggings and a black tunic for a nighttime look that’s cooler than Kate Moss in the 90’s (no drug habit required to achieve optimum chic-ness).
News Brief! Victorian mid-calf booties have officially made a comeback. They’re surprisingly versatile, especially for being the bootie’s and the knee-high’s weird (but like Chloë Sevigny chic-weird) middle sibling. Toughen up a girly dress when paired with tights and an anorak or keep it cool and hip with jeans, a good striped tee and some rocking shades.
If the thought of lacing up makes you feel the need to let your hair down and lasso a cow (or a pig… or a horse… what do they even lasso anymore?) thank your lucky horseshoe that Cowboy boots are back. Treat these as a go-with-everything boot for an authentic “I’m actually a cowgirl; These are from my cowgirl days ” look. No one has to know that your “cowgirl days” was the just that time of your life when you were particularly into flannel, Paula Deen, and saying y’all for a majority of your pronouns.
When you have those days that need a little pizzaz, a little flair, dare I say-- a little Gaga? punch up the dreary atmosphere with metallic booties. It’s a fun take on a pop of color and even the colorblind will appreciate it! (Disclaimer: Chic geek has not tested this theory, but who doesn’t appreciate a good metallic?)
Finally, from our fabulously butch and macho friends at Leatherhead, we receive the most coveted of all boots, the Frye. We’ve heard rumors of a Frye-filled heaven,; where everyone treds in soft leathers and looks like a badass. However, while we continue to look for the pearly gates, we’re hanging out at Leatherhead. Frye boots are the perfect boot to have if you want to have only one for all of your boot needs. (While we don’t necessarily understand the one boot fits all mantra, we’re willing to entertain it for a Frye). Pair it with leggings and a chunky sweater for the ultimate chic-in-the-wilderness-look. It’s the best way to add hardcore cred to your camping (for shoes), fishing (for the perfect push-up bra), and hiking (up club stairs) nature-girl lifestyle.
Now, not to brag, but after some study time with Chic Geek, acing the boots midterm is going to be one fabulous walk in the park.
