    Eat & Swig

If your father isn't a big fan of eating -- although judging by the size of the pleated khakis in Louisville, most are -- take him to the events featured in Louisville.com's weekend preview (although the divorce clinic might not be an ideal destination).

    Avalon
    1314 Bardstown Road
Food at Avalon good. Free food at Avalon better. All dads receive one free lounge plate item off of Avalon's regular lunch or dinner menu this Father's Day (maximum value $10). No word on if you have to prove your fatherhood by bringing in a paternity test. And, for what it's worth, I took my parents to Avalon when they were in town two months ago and my dad loved it.

    Churchill Downs
    700 Central Ave.
Levy Restaurants will be serving a traditional brunch (I assume American style) offered throughout Churchill Downs for Father’s Day. The full menu will be available to groups in Millionaire’s Row for $26.95 per person (is that cheaper than usual or did Churchill raise the price?). Dining also will be available in the Turf Club and the Matt Winn Room. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the first race post time is 12:45 p.m.

    Corbett's: An American Place
    5050 Norton Healtcare Blvd.
Treat your dad to a four-course meal paired with varietals from Steele Wines, a California Winery. Jed Steele the owner and winemaker, will be in attendance as well. Tickets are $75. Call 502-327-5058 for reservations. (Although judging by the main photo on its Web site, by "An American Place," Corbett's is referring to the America that favors posh whites-only dining.)

    Mitchell's Fish Market
    4031 Summit Plaza
I usually don't review chain restaurants, but Mitchell's is offering not just one but two deals for Father's Day: prime sirloin and lobster for $27.95 and a free $10 gift card with the purchase of two dinner entrées. (Via About.com)

    Wendy's
    Locations throughout the metropolis
Take your dad for a Frosty this weekend -- Wendy's will contribute $0.50 from every Frosty sold this weekend to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, which increases adoptions of foster children in North America. So take your dad with you on your 2 a.m. drunk run to Wendy's drive thru and support a good cause.
