Crescent Hill Radio is almost to their second birthday and are having their first fundraiser to raise money to help with operational costs for their third year. They are a non-profit internet radio station with an audio stream that runs 24/7, featuring all local entertainment and weekly shows.
The AM radio station began as a hobby for founder Kathy Weisbach but quickly grew as much of Louisville's creative community began to submit music and ideas. The AM broadcast can only be heard in a specific area of Crescent Hill, but can be heard anytime online at their web site. The radio station can also be found in many online directories such as Windows Media Player or I-tunes.
The radio station has really made their way into local community and even does live broadcasting now, which allows people to listen to community events and shows online. They recently broadcast live from the Mighty Kindness festival. Afterwards, Weisbach went so far as to separate each bands performance to separate clips to be archived at Sound Cloud. Services like these are precious and rare for musicians. Aside from helping local musicians, they have also provided a global outlet to the busy literary and comedy scenes here in Louisville, which are often overlooked. All of the work by Weisbach or her weekly show hosts has been voluntary, and the bills of broadcasting are adding up.
The fundraiser will be at Vernon Lanes and admission is only $10. Doors open at 5 p.m. Local bands will be playing until midnight, featuring music by kRi and Hettie, Soul Circus, Daphne Luster and the Luminaries, Several Hundred People, The Stella Vees, Mickey Clark, and Denny Wheatly.
