It's Friday night in Louisville, and you're looking for something to do. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants in this town, along with amazing theater, museums and cinema.
But how about something a little different?
Tucked away in the center of Lyndon, just off Westport Rd between Herr Lane and Lyndon Lane, is one of the premiere shopping centers in the area, the Westport Village. It is home to some great restaurants and bars, such as the new Boombozz Pizzeria and Taphouse, Hiko-A-Mon Sushi Bar and Fish Market, and Indigo Joe's Sports Pub and Restaurant (not to mention The Comfy Cow, my new favorite ice cream joint).
There's also amazing shopping at places like Clater Jewelers and The Trail Store, along with many, many more.
And your visit is not complete without a stop at Westport Whiskey and Wine. They have one of the best selections of bourbons I have seen!
But what's really cool about this shopping and dining paradise is the way it feels like a neighborhood within a neighborhood. And, every Friday night through September 3rd from 7-10, there is live music being performed by top notch bands that truly brings the place alive! It transforms from a shopping center to a block party (especially if you start at Boombozz for their amazing happy hour from 4-7!)
Some of the upcoming acts are:
June 4: Crushed Velvet
June 11: Nervous Energy
June 18: Tattoo Babylon
It's a great opportunity to check out this fantastic shopping village, try some of the dozen or so bars and restaurants, browse through the dozens of fine shops, and catch some great tunes.
And now that the new on/off ramps are open for 264 at Westport, it is SO EASY to get there!
