Have you and your family visited South Louisville lately? This weekend will be a great time to head that way and explore. On Saturday, June 29, your family can participate in the Kroger Health and Wellness Fair & Dignity Memorial Car Show from 10am-2pm. It is happening at 10645 Dixie Highway. Planned activities for the family include the bloodmobile, a bike rodeo, free health screenings, free I.D.’s made for kids, a rollover car demonstration, door prizes, and great summer treats for the kids!

Looking for an early, free, family-friendly fireworks show? Look no further than the Riverview Park Independence Festival that is scheduled for Saturday as well from 5pm-11pm. Fireworks are set to light up the sky around 10:30pm. There is entertainment, food, and more fun scheduled for the entire day with everything from music, Mad Science, and the Louisville League of Mascots.  Read a great review of the Riverview Park and sprayground here, courtesy of Louisville Family Fun. The park is located at 8202 Greenwood Road. For more information, visit www.riverviewfestival.com.

South Louisville is home to great family oriented sites, parks, libraries, and other venues. Check these out!

And on Tuesday, July 2, the Louisville Free Public Library is breaking ground on the new Southwest Regional Library to be located at 9725 Dixie Highway. The groundbreaking with Mayor Greg Fischer, the Library Foundation, and the Library Advisory Commission, will take place at Kendall Road, near Valley High School at 10:30am. Be a part of this spectacular news for the library system, which hasn’t seen this something of this magnitude in close to 30 years.
