Houndmouth's ceiling only seems to keep getting higher. The momentum from their debut album "From The Hills Below The CIty" is rolling right into 2015 and they have already received an accolade for it.
According to Buzzfeed, through "hot, fresh listener data," Spotify has predicted the music's biggest stars of 2015 and Houndmouth has made the list (along with 17 others). Say what you will about lists and prediction in music, even ones with data to back them up, but this list last year included artists like Hozier, Betty Who, Glass Animals, and FKA Twigs, whose careers all skyrocketed this year.
While some in Kentuckiana may call Houndmouth the new band the area has seen since My Morning Jacket, they are still making a name for themselves in other parts of the country. Inclusion in the list speaks to the possibilities of an even better 2015 than 2014 and 2014 was huge.
They released a new song "For No One" in November and will release their second album next year. They already have tour dates booked for February and March. (You will have to go to Bloomington or Nashville to see them).
Spotify came up with their list "by crunching the number to see who's trending among its 50+ million users, talking to record labels, and exercising a little old-school editorial judgment." For the full list, check it out on Buzzfeed.
