About a month ago, a strange mythical creature came to Jeffersonville, Indiana. But unlike its brown or white kin, the red yeti is friendly towards humans.
My fiancé and I stumbled across the Red Yeti Brewing Company after walking across the Big Four Bridge. I am the world's worst picky eater, but I know I can always find something I love at a pub, and craft beers are always a good addition to a meal. This, combined with the curiosity piqued by the name, compelled us to eat there.
The restaurant seemed crowded, but we were seated quickly. While their list of craft beers did not include their own at that time, it comprised a wide variety of local beers. Our server brought over several samples of beer and was kind and attentive. She explained that she was not yet an expert on their beers, since the Red Yeti had just opened and their brews varied daily.
She also described in depth what makes the food at the Red Yeti unique. Not only does their food come from local sources, but it is also fresh. They do not even keep a freezer in the kitchen. Because of this, the food takes longer to prepare than the food at a typical restaurant. I am grateful she took the time to explain all this to us. It feels good to be a part of the local market and to know that we were getting quality food. Also, we understood the prices and why our meal took awhile to get to us.
I have rarely been so pleased with a burger (keep in mind the world's worst picky eater status I have). The meat was more filling than a typical beef patty; it had a refined quality that is closer to steak or a bison burger. The house-made roll that the burger was served on was also more substantial than a bun at a similarly priced restaurant. Their fries were dusted with a layer of parmesan on top, a perfect compliment to the rich flavor.
They also serve dessert, of course.
For hungry patrons on both sides of the river, the Red Yeti can provide top-notch food and drink. While it is not a restaurant to visit when you are pressed for time, it is worth checking out. I hope to be back many times as they grow and add their own brews.
