Stephen Foster and Dr. Seuss will share the same stage this summer along with several music acts at My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown.

Stephen Foster Productions will present its namesake production of Stephen Foster: the Musical along with Seussical: the Musical during its summer outdoor theatre season.

The whole season begins on June 9 with performances of Stephen Foster: The Musical.  Foster was a lyricist who later became famous for songs like "My Old Kentucky Home", "Camptown races", and "Oh, Susanna".  However, his life involved constant struggle, including trying to make money for these songs and finding love.  The show will run throughout the summer on various days until August 11.

Seussical: The Musical will also be in Bardstown, KY, this summer beginning July 5.  The Cat in the Hat, Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, and even The Grinch make an appearance in this journey through the scenes in Dr. Seuss's books.  During the journey, Horton must protect the Whos as well as an abandoned egg.  The production will run on Thursdays and Saturdays until August 4 at 8:30 p.m. each night.

For both shows, ticket prices vary.  Adults preferred seating is $23 per person, adult standard seating is $18, child preferred seating is $12, children between six and 12 years of age are $10, and children five and under get in free.  Tickets can be purchased at the site or online at the Stephen Foster Productions website.

A Stephen Foster Productions summer season would not be complete without concerts, and this season will have a great variety.  The Budweiser Live at the Park Concerts series will begin with Hunter Hays.  The Academy of Country Music New Artist of the Year nominee, best known for Storm Warning, will perfom on June 18.

Coming in July to the concert series will be The Spinners.  Famous for songs like Rubberband Man and Working My Way Back to You, this group has been together for more than 50 years, gaining 12 gold records along the way.  The Spinners perform on July 9.

Other groups to come include The Music of ABBA: Arrival From Sweden, Easton Corbin, and Jumping Jack Flash (a Rolling Stones Tribute).  Ticket prices for the concerts vary and can be found at the Live at the Park page.
