Dracula, Edgar Allen Poe, and Tennessee Williams are just one weekend of many that Shelby County Community Theatre (SCCT) will present as part of its Upstairs at 801 series in the 2014-15 theater season.
Upstairs at 801 is SCCT's series featuring works that are performed in a more intimate, up-close setting - in this case, on the second floor of SCCT, located at 801 Main Street in Shelbyville, KY.
During the 2014-15 season, Upstairs at 801 will feature four productions/shows: Necessary Targets (October), An Evening of American Folkways (November), Love Letters (January 2015), and A Night of One-Acts (March 2015).
Season tickets are available for the Upstairs at 801 series at $54 for adults, $43 for seniors, and $36 for students. Flex passes, which can be used for up to six SCCT mainstage or Upstairs at 801 productions, can be purchased for $81 for adults, $65 for seniors, and $54 for adults. Upstairs at 801 opens its season with Necessary Targets, a show focusing on women, war, dark memories, and human spirit's triumph. This production takes place Oct. 17-25, and auditions are on Aug. 24 and 25. .
Moving deeper into the fall is a one-night only musical variety show, An Evening of American Folkways. Live music from the region's talented artists will take place on Nov. 8.
Starting in the new year is Love Letters, a show about a friendship that endures through letters between two people. Love Letters arrives from on Jan. 30 and 31.
Ending the Upstairs at 801 season is An Evening of One-Acts, which features Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, Tennessee Williams's This Property is Condemned, and an excerpt from Dracula. The one-acts will take place Mar. 20-28.
