A mix of timeless musicals, historical figures, and murder mysteries join the Shelby County Community Theatre lineup for the 2014-15 theater season.
During its season, Shelby County Community Theatre (SCCT) will present five mainstage shows: Funny Girl (August), A Christmas Story (December), The Drowsy Chaperone (February 2015), The Miracle Worker (April 2015), and And Then There Were None (June 2014). All performances are to happen at SCCT, located at 801 Main Street in Shelbyville, KY.
Season tickets can be purchased for $68 per adult, $54 per senior citizen, or $45 per student. Flax pass options are also available, allowing patrons the ability to attend six shows of their choosing between the mainstage and Upstairs at 801 shows. Those tickets are $81 per adults, $54 for senior, and $45 per student. Finally, individual show tickets are $15 per adult, $12 per senior citizen, and $10 per student. SCCT will open the mainstage season with Funny Girl, a musical exploring the life of a stage and screen star and her rocky relationship. Funny Girl takes place Aug. 8-17.
Turning to Christmas time, SCCT will bring in the classic A Christmas Story, which includes Ralphie, a Red Ryder BB Gun, and (hopefully) not shooting his eye out. A Christmas Story unfolds Dec. 5-14.
Starting in the new year is The Drowsy Chaperone, which pays tribute to Jazz Age musicals as a man relives the sounds and joys of an old, nearly forgotten show. That show will happen Feb. 13-22.
As spring rolls around, The Miracle Worker will go on, focusing on the life and relationship between Helen Keller, a blind and deaf lady, and Annie Sullivan, her teacher and confidant. The Miracle Worker shows from April 17-26.
Lastly, SCCT will present And Then There Were None, an Agatha Christie murder mystery with murders one-by-one on an island. The show runs June 5-14.
