Growing up, people tend to go through a lot of phases when it comes to their future career aspirations. I myself went through astronaut, paleontologist, magician, doctor, marine biologist, Air Force pilot. Lots of these are pretty standard for kids. Another one: actor. And lots of people end up pursuing that. And lots of people who maybe still wish they could be actors haven't done anything with that dream.

But it's never too late, and the indie film community is now reaching out to you – yes, YOU – with an opportunity to give it a thought.

Local filmmaker Allan Day, whose short film Gloria Mundi won the award for Best Plot/Concept at this year's Floyd Film Festival (he now has a fancy plastic Oscar sitting on his DVD shelf), is currently casting for his upcoming project, a short film entitled Reverie.

Reverie tells the story of Jim, an aspiring writer whose work is constantly interrupted by the memories of two previous relationships and dreams of a fantasy girl. Auditions will be held at the main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, located at 301 York Street, on Sunday, October 20, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The following roles will be cast:

+Jim: An aspiring writer with a fair amount of subconscious self-doubt. Generally quiet, spends a lot of time in his own head; has friends but likes to keep to himself.
+Woman 1: An imagined manifestation of a previous girlfriend of Jim's. Outspoken, glib, and sarcastic; smokes a lot of pot.
+Woman 2: An imagined manifestation of a more recent ex-girlfriend. She is sad; she feels as if Jim was The One and she lost him unfairly. Grounded in reality, but hopeful for better things for herself.
+Woman 3: A fantasy girl, appears in Jim's dreams, always smiling, playful, romantic..
    +Shauna: A painter.
    +Julia: Shauna's girlfriend.

Complete details can be found at the audition's Facebook event page. Feel free to contact Mr. Day with any questions, through Facebook or the Louisville.com contact page.

    About Allan Day

There are legitimate theories that the Big Bang originated from the collapse of a black hole in a fourth-dimensional universe. This stuff fascinates me, and I love reading about it. I love reading about science. And about anything, for that matter, provided it's interesting - and everything is potentially interesting, so I'm fascinated by a lot of things. I also read a lot of fiction (Kurt Vonnegut deserves deification) and watch a lot of movies (Charlie Chaplin also deserves deification). I've made a few short films myself. I'm also a writer of everything - I'm close to a Bachelor's in English at IUS. My life consists of reading, writing, bartending, and taking care of my daughter full-time. Life is busy and life is stressful, but that's why there's music and art and other forms of relaxation.
