    Bit to Do

As I have mentioned recently, delectable bites and delicious books often go hand-in-hand; rich words and rich food both satisfy our bodies with the delights of their palate-pleasing plumpness. Despite our well-known and collective dependency on the drive-thru (and ill-penned fluff), the trend of whole foods, good foods and adventurous eats are all trending in a positive pulse with those in the know. Pair your next culinary enjoyment with an appetizing read this weekend; award-winning chef and New York Times bestselling author, Gabrielle Hamilton presents her scrumptious memoir, Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef at the Louisville Free Public Library this Saturday, January 28th at 2pm.

A world-class chef, Gabrielle Hamilton is the head chef and owner of the acclaimed New York City restaurant, PRUNE, which she opened in the East Village in 1999. Nominated by the James Beard Foundation for Best Chef in NYC in both 2009 and 2010, Hamilton finally took home the honor last year;   her culinary acclaim now translates to print with the release of her bestselling memoir, Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef. Hamilton, who received an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Michigan, tells the unconventional story of her life through the many kitchens she has come to know over the years. Following a gastronomic journey from the rural kitchen of her childhood, to the bistros of France, Turkey and Greece, and even through the soulless grind of catering factories, Blood, Bones & Butter reveals the honesty, humor and challenges of a determined culinary spirit.

Join Hamilton as she enumerates on all the delicious (and sometimes sour) details this Saturday at the Library’s Main branch. Beginning at 2pm, Hamilton will discuss her bestseller and expound on the behind-the-scenes of running a kitchen, writing a book all in the midst of learning from life. Pick up a copy of Blood, Bones & Butter, grab a baguette and feast your senses.

The Library’s Main branch is located at 301 York Street

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
