    Bit to Do

Mixology and Cocktails at Bourbon Barrel Foods
    Print this page

We’re really lucky to live in Louisville.  We have some of the best restaurants around, and we have some of the best chefs and mixologists working at them.  In a few weeks, one of my favorite local chef/mixologists is hosting a cocktail party at Bourbon Barrel Foods’ Kitchen Studio.  But this isn’t just any cocktail party.  Stephen Dennison of Bistro 1860, also the mixologist for Bourbonblog.com, will be teaching guests how to make specialty cocktails.

On the menu are hors d’oeuvres that “that explore and exhibit Bourbon Country’s unique flavors. Menu items include an Umami Gazpacho, Kentuckyaki Filet Mignon, a Smoked Manhattan, and other innovative small plates and cocktail pairings,” according to the press release from Bourbon Barrel Foods.  The smoked Manhattan Smoked Manhattan features Ancient Age Bourbon, Punt E Mes, and a Bourbon Barrel Smoked Vessel.  Many of the items on the menu feature products invented in Kentucky by Bourbon Barrel Foods.  Even the cocktails feature ingredients that have aged in used bourbon barrels.  The Umami Gazpacho with Tito’s Vodka, Tomato, Garlic, Celery, and Cucumber also features Bourbon Barrel Soy Sauce, the first offering from Bourbon Barrel Foods in 2006.

Thursday June 26 at 7 p.m., be sure to join Stephen Dennison and the Bourbon Barrel Foods crew for an informative and fun evening.  Bourbon culture spills over into culinary culture quite often in Kentucky, and it is almost always a good thing.  We not only drink bourbon in Kentucky, but it is also a food group.  That’s what Bourbon Barrel Foods is all about.  Tickets are $45.00 per guest and can be reserved by calling 502-333-6103 x 4.
