Fall officially begins tomorrow, and there's no better way to celebrate the season than sitting amidst the turning leaves in Louisville's Tyler Park listening to live jazz.
The month-long Tyler Park Sunday Jazz Series continues this weekend as the Mike Tracy Brazilian Ensemble is set to play Sunday from 4-6pm.
Mike Tracy, current Director of the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Studies Program at the University of Louisville School of Music, has over 35 years of experience performing and teaching jazz around the world. He has recorded five albums and is working on a sixth, “Surfboard,” which will include an all Brazilian rhythm section performing infrequently heard Brazilian selections by Jobim, Pascoal, and others. Tracy is the author of Jazz Piano Voicings for the Non-pianist and Jazz Saxophone Survey: A Descriptive Analysis of 38 Saxophonists and is a two-time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Award, among other honors.
The Tyler Park Sunday Jazz Series is sponsored by the Tyler Park Neighborhood Association. The event is free, and attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets, food, and friends. The series runs through September 30.
