Characters from Tennessee Williams's plays get hillariously thrown into the play The Glass Mendacity, which Louisville Repertory Company will open tonight.
The Glass Mendacity will take place on Oct. 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, and 19 at 8 p.m. each night. A matinee is to happen on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. All performances are to go on in the Mex Theater, located at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, 501 W Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for most shows are $16 per person. For the Oct. 14 show, tickets are $11 per person. All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website, at the door, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.
Consider this show a comic mashup of Tennessee Williams's best known plays and characters. Big Daddy has returned home after a stint in the hospital and finds that his son and daughter-in-law are doing whatever they can to inherit the family estate.
Things get crazy when other characters begin showing up including, Maggie the Cat, Brick, Laura, Blanche, and others. The "family" becomes the shining example of dysfunction when everyone enters into the play.
The Glass Mendacity features George Bailey as Big Daddy, Rick O'Daniel Munger as Mitch O'Connor, Grace Poganski as Amanda Dubois, Sean Childress as Stanley Kowalski, Barb O'Daniel-Munger as Maggie the Cat, Kelly Kapp as Blanche Kowalski, and Magdalen Hartman as Laura Dubois. Jared Burton is the stage manager.
Angela Miller directed the production, which Maureen Morley and Tom Willmorth created.
