The Stephen King/John Mellencamp/T-Bone Burnett-created Ghost Brothers of Darkland County comes to Louisville for one night only this Friday.
Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will take place on Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. The two-hour, all ages show will go on in Whitney Hall, located at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, 501 W Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for the show range in price from $39.50-$69.50, depending on the show. All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.
Ghost Brothers of Darkland County is a story of legends as lies, murder, fraternal love, and a person haunted by the events of a tragic night in 1967. Forty years later, that man still remembers the tragedy he witnessed that took three people's lives.
These days, that man sees his own family - specifically two brothers - falling apart as the legend of 1967 grows. That man must tell the truth of that tragic night or risk losing his own family.
King created the book while Mellencamp created the lyrics and music for Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. Burnett brought in additional production.
The inspiration for the musical came following Mellencamp's own experiences in a family retreat in southern Indiana. After experiences random things taking place, like stuff being moved around and window blinds opening, Mellencamp learned that the retreat was apparently haunted by two men who died following a fight about a girl.
Mellencamp went to King with the idea and, for the next 13 years, worked on creating the production.
The show is part of a 20 city tour that will open in Indiana tonight.
