Harlem Globetrotters
Freedom Hall
Saturday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m.
Who can resist the spectacle of the Globetrotters with their dribbling and dunking extravaganza. The kids will be amazed by this show that has thrilled generations of children since the 1920's. An even better bonus...with their their 23,300 “wins”, the Globetrotters are almost guaranteed to win. As a kid, I hated all things having to do with sports, but even I loved those crazy Globetrotters!
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Eifler Theater, Clifton Center
Saturday, January 16th at 7:30 pm
This Tony-award winning music comedy one-act will make you laugh out loud. It's about a school spelling bee, and the fast-pace songs and witty dialogue will keep your elementary-age and up children entertained (I think I'll leave 10 month old Jack at home for this one!). The show is a benefit hosted by Kids Acting Against Cancer (KAAC), a local, non-profit organization of young adults and teenagers. All proceeds will go to Gilda's Club of Louisville. Tickets are $20 ($15 for students) and you can call (502) 896-8480 for more details.
