Several Louisville comedians have been accepted to perform in the seventh annual comedy showcase "Laugh Your Asheville Off" in Asheville, North Carolina. It's the largest comedy festival in the Southeast, and the lineup is chosen out of hundreds of submissions.

Patrick Passafiume, Raanan Hershberg  and Jacob Williams (Native Louisvillian who now lives in Chicago) will head to Asheville along with more than 40 other comedians from all over to perform for festival audiences and some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry", according to the festival website. The festival will run from August 13 - 17, spanning multiple venues with several types of events from showcase to fundraiser. The festival will give the comics the chance to network with other comedians plus club owners and bookers.

Passafiume has garnered several unique opportunities throughout his relatively young career like performing at the Improv and training at Second City. He's already been invited to submit writing to Saturday Night Live and worked with wrestling legend Mick Foley who now tours as a comedian. To promote the Mick Foley show, he ended up entering the ring and letting an OVW wrestler knock him around on video. The video, titled "Pro wrestler attacks comedian", has received almost 4,000 views.

"I decided to make a video with the premise that if Mick can do comedy then I can wrestle," he said.

Originally from New York, Hershberg is highly involved in the Louisville Comedy scene. He produces and hosts the bi-weekly comedy show at the Bard's Town "The Young, Dumb and Full of Comedy Show" in addition to participating in the "Roasts" held there. During the roasts, comedians dress up as characters from a theme like "Super Mario Brothers" or "Disney" and roast each other in character. (Passafiume also participates in these).  Hershberg has also shown himself to be a well rounded entertainer by debuting his first one man comedy and poetry show "Broke, High and Horny" last year. His next one man show "Crying behind 3D glasses" will be in August.

Williams has been busy since leaving Louisville. He's only half way through his twenties, and he's been seen on Cable networks like MTV, NBC, and Showtime. He's been heard on The Bob & Tom show in addition to Sirius XM Radio. He's also a regular cast member on Nick Cannon presents Wild 'n Out and made it to the Semifinals on America's Got Talent.  If all that isn't impressive enough, he's been the First place winner in a long list of comedy competitions, which can be seen on his web site. He'll be back in Louisville at the Comedy Caravan July 5 - 7.   Header Photo: (Above) Patrick Passafiume on stage, photo by Preston Posthuma, supplied by Passafiume
