I've been honored to be awarded a few comedy titles this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of tomorrow night. I'll be facing off against 9 others who each won at qualifying rounds of the Louisville's Funniest Person tournament at Comedy Caravan. The show admits folks ages 18 and over, and the doors open at 7 p.m. The show will start promptly at 7:45 with a set by the producer and emcee, comedian Street Russell.
"The finals sell out every year," says Russell. "I can't wait..."
There will be guest comedians aside from the competitors: 2012 winner Joe Carpenter and 2012 runner up David Ranschaert will both be performing sets. Professional comic Jordan Cooper will be headlining the show at the end to wrap things up with a bang.
The competitors are:
Me - (performing as Divinity Rose)
Nick Keutzer
Neil Snyder
Sean McEuen
Mike Salot
Beth Jeffries
Matt Browning
James Ferguson
Stu Askew
Jay Pizzolato
Luke McDermott
Audience members will vote by circling their two favorite performers. First place winner will receive a trophy, a set at the comedy caravan and a massage package to ease all the nerves they aggravated preparing for the finale. They'll also get bragging rights.
For fun, I'm going to have paper masks of my face (on a stick) with a chat bubble over them with pens for the first fifty folks through the door who want them. You can decorate them and put thoughts in my head while waiting for the show to start.
You can purchase tickets ahead of time at the comedy caravan web site and are $10 each. You can also get them at teh door while they last. This sounds like a hilarious and fun way to spend the night before Thanksgiving with family and friends, but I'm a little biased. Bonus: it'll be done before 10 pm so you can go continue your family fun elsewhere afterwards.
