Gay comedy show will bring laughs to Play

Janelle Fitzpatrick is no stranger to the Louisville comedy or LGBT scenes. In addition to being a performer, she is one of the co-producers of the annual all-female comedy competition No Balls of Meat," and has produced countless other opportunities for comics in the Kentuckiana area. She also served as co-host on Crescent Hill Radio's "Comedy Zone" show with Ed Black.

Fitzpatrick recently partnered up with Butchertown nightclub, Play, to bring comedy to the LGBT community. She's producing a show on January 24, 2015 that will feature all gay and lesbian comedians.

"We did a show like this several years ago at KT's in the backroom," she said. "It went well and the room was full. I decided it was time for another one; I'd like to make it an annual production."

Fitzpatrick was also part of a show called Laugh Out Proud for three years, which was to raise money for the Kentuckiana Pride Festival. The show is no longer running, and hopefully this will fill the void it left behind in the LGBT community. She will be joined by Lynne Nowak and comedienne Zanne. After these entertainers have their way on the stage, comedian Keith McGill will headline and close out the show. He's been seen on BET, CMT and the Bob and Tom show. According to his web site, his " 401(K) is a Powerball ticket" and his "retirement plan is a slippery floor at WalMart."

The tickets are $7 at the door and cash only. However, the full bar at Play does accept debit and credit cards. You can laugh with a full heart, knowing that one dollar from each admission benefits Louisville Youth Group, a support group for LGBT youth. You can RSVP for the event on the Facebook Page.
