The local music scene here in Louisville is always thriving. There’s no doubt about that.

One man you have to thank for that is Sean Bailey. He is the long-bearded, flannel-plaid and black hat wearing man who possesses perhaps the most contagious smile in this city. You can find him at just about concert in Louisville on any given night. Usually in the front row.

For over three years, Bailey has produced, updated, and maintained Louisville MUSICulture, a music micro-blog. One of the biggest focuses of the blog is informing Louisville each and every day of all the concerts happening in this ever-so-musical city. The blog invited music of any kind played by anyone on its lists.

Bailey announced at Monday afternoon that Louisville MUSICulture would be going on an indefinite hiatus.

Bailey said, “I truly believe in my heart that letting LMC go for a little while will help me gain some much needed clarity in my personal life as well as my professional life with Production Simple, Headliners Hall, and Quest Outdoors.”

The places that Bailey just listed are where he works. He didn’t work at Louisville MUSICulture. It didn’t pay the bills. Bailey did it every day out of love and pride in the musicians, venues, and audiences that make up Louisville’s music scene.

“Even if LMC only turned one single soul onto a new band, a local show or community event, or local business—I’m totally satisfied with that,” Bailey said.

In only its three years of existence, Louisville MUSICulture had a strong and diverse following. As of this writing, it has 10,713 likes on Facebook, 6,714 followers on Twitter, and 7,993 followers on Instagram.

It should be noted that Bailey is announcing a hiatus. He’s not calling it quits.

“I love all the opportunities it’s afforded me over the past three of so years, and I feel certain that it’ll be back better than ever in the not so distant future,” he said, “At least, that’s my hope.”

It’s a see you later moment. Bailey said, "It's truly been a labor of love for me."
