Who needs sleeves when you have a fiddle and a smile? And after looking at Whiskey Shivers frontman Bobby Fitzgerald, it’s hard to argue that solid point.
Whiskey Shivers is an old world folk quintet that throws back to backyards in a holler – singing sad songs of plight and the hills. Hit’s a high speed fusion of up tempo country and bluegrass arrangements, the band is rapidly growing their fanbase from concerts at backyard parties, punk rock dive bars, or giant country music festivals. Wherever they show up audiences take notice, and congregate around them for an unforgettable experience that gives you the uncontrollable desire to move your feet.
All of their hard work and never saying no to a gig – is starting to pay off for the band. Entertainment Weekly just premiered their latest video “Free” on their site, and Pollstar is running a short docu-mini series about the band and their excursions. Paste magazine premiered the video for “There is a Time,” and their song “Pray for Me” was recently featured on N.P.R.’s World Café.
So the industry is taking notice of a homegrown band with a loyal and equally homegrown fan base that is spread across the country, and gained the old fashioned way…by having had the band bring the music to them.
This is band of guys that have lived the music that they play, it is etched on their faces and oozes out of their hands and onto the strings and skins that they play.
Whiskey Shivers will be playing at The New Vintage this weekend, Sunday April 12th, at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10 – and the band will be playing songs from their latest self-titled album, as well as off of their first two albums Batholiath and Rampa Head, respectively.
