Riding into this weekend on a high after a win against the Ohio Vortex last Friday night, the Louisville Lightning hope to keep the streak alive tonight against the Cincinnati Kings. The Kings are leading the division, but the Lightning know they want to finish the regular season on a positive and winning note.
As head coach Ted Nichols states, "The focus in this week’s practice was to take the lessons we’ve learned and take it into tonight. They’re a very strong and experienced team and we’re playing for pride now. We were able to beat Cincy in the last game of the season last year and it was a big deal. We hope to do the same this year. We have not had that statement win so far this season," he said. "We need this win for the franchise and for our confidence. We want to go out on a high note and this is our playoff. It’s a one-game playoff for us, and frankly, we want to ruin their home winning streak. There is plenty for us to play for, but it’s our time to step up."
While the team didn't have the year they'd hoped for statistically in the win-loss column, getting this win would be huge moving forward into both the post-season and going into next year.
Tonight's game does mark the end of the second season for the Louisville LIghtning, and their ever-present fan base (the Storm Chasers) will be making the trek up I-71 to help support the team. They're leaving at 5:30 from the King Fish Restaurant on River Road, so get there early to be a part of the caravan of fun!
