Standing inside a Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen is a comforting experience which evokes strong memories of warm grandmothers pulling gooey cinnamon rolls from the oven, tenderly dividing the golden, handmade dough and doling out their love like communion. You close your eyes and breathe in the intoxicating aromas of cinnamon, butter, flaky pie crust… Then you hear an angel’s voice, and you look up to meet the gaze of the smiling employee who wants to take your order. And it hits you – you have to pick a dessert, only ONE dessert, from this gigantic glass case of luscious choices! Madness!! If Frodo couldn't simply walk into Mordor, I cannot be expected to select just one tempting treat. Truly, I know folks who had an easier time choosing a career path than deciding between caramel apple pie and Oreo cheesecake, both of which are delicious. Luckily, around this time of year, our friends offer scrumptious limited time specials, and I find that they make my decisions slightly easier.

LIMITED TIME FROZEN DESSERT FLAVOR SPECIALS:

                ~ Lemon

                ~ Grape Sherbet

                ~ Watermelon Sherbet

                ~ Strawberry Sherbet

                ~ Summer Berry

                ~ Peach

~ Vegan Coconut Milk Ice Cream - I’m impressed with this agave syrup-sweetened vegan ice cream. The only in the city, it’s free of dairy, lactose, gluten, and soy. Plus, it’s yummy – I sampled it myself!

The Pie Kitchen proudly pledges to only use milk and cream from local and regional dairy farmers with no artificial growth hormones. They make each frozen dessert from scratch, too! That’s pretty amazing.

I enjoy trying new things, but I must admit to some personal favorites:

                    - Grape Sherbet

                    - Sugar Cookies

                    - French Silk Pie
