I’ll admit it – I’m afraid of spiders. Really afraid.
Has that fear subsided a little since I was a kid? Yes. I no longer stand on chairs or jump on someone’s back and shriek when I see one, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I can’t sleep if I find an arachnid in my bedroom.
I’ve had countless nightmares about 8 creepy legs, mostly because I was a moron and watched the beginning of “Arachnophobia” once a couple years ago. I think spiders are tiny demons, and I firmly believe that they can smell fear. Particularly mine. So, what do I do about it? Well, visit the Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen, of course!
Just in time for Halloween, the Pie Kitchen on Lexington Road is selling their delectable sugar cookies decorated with spiders on webs and cute purple bats. They also have pumpkins, if you happen to be afraid of those. Or, y’know, if you’re not a grown up who has an irrational fear of tiny spiders.
As usual, they’re wonderful cookies. I had one while I perused a magazine after a long walk the other night, and you know what I did before I took my first bite? I picked up that cookie, I looked that dumb spider right in the eye, and I laughed right in its stupid little face, which I then proceeded to eat. It was delicious, and when I got back home, I didn’t give a single thought to checking my room for anything with eight wiggly legs.
So, HA HA, spiders – I’m slightly less afraid now. Until I find one of you in my place again. And then we’re gonna be back to square one. But, in the meantime, thanks for your help, Pie Kitchen! :)
