Comfy Cow ice cream contest: kids create newest flavor, win ice cream for a year
    Print this page

The Comfy Cow wants kids to create and name their next ice cream flavor. The popular pink ice cream shop at 2221 Frankfort Avenue is sponsoring a Creative Concoction Contest for children twelve and under, and the winner will receive a free scoop of ice cream every day for a year, overnight accommodations and tickets to KaLightoscope at the Galt House, and bragging rights to the newest winter flavor on the chalkboard menu.

    Here's the scoop (get it?):

    • Kids create and name a flavor of ice cream (Hint: Comfy Cow is looking for wintry flavors, so think pumpkin, cinnamon, peppermint, etc.)
    • Parents email the child's recipe and drawing to swhite@louisvillechildrensmuseum.org and include the child's name, age, name of flavor and list of ingredients. Or entries can be mailed to 2221 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206 Attn: LCM Contest for display in the store. Entries will also be posted to Louisville Children's Museum's facebook page.
    • Comfy Cow will choose ten finalists by November 19. All finalists will receive a holiday prize package and free ice cream.

On Saturday, December 1 from 6:30-8:00, The Comfy Cow will host a holiday party unveiling their newest flavor. The Pride of Kentucky Chorus will carol amidst elves and characters, while finalists and ice cream enthusiasts can get their faces painted and play games. At 7:45 Comfy Cow will announce the winner, unveiling their newest ice cream flavor on the big chalkboard menu and scooping up tasty treats for guests. The lucky winner will receive a free scoop of ice cream every day for a year plus a holiday prize package including an overnight stay at the Galt House and tickets to the Christmas spectacular KaLightoscope.

The winning flavor will be served all December long, and 20% of all sales will go towards the Louisville Children's Museum fund. Establishing the Louisville Children's Museum is a grassroots effort being led by energetic and tenacious parents, educators, business owners, and community leaders who want to build the city's only hands-on, multidisciplinary museum for play and learning specifically designed for children. Proposed exhibits include: Health and Fitness (to incorporate Louisville's Healthy Hometown Initiative), Cultures of the World, Learn About Louisville, Gardening for the Greater Good, Main Street-Louisville, and Dramatic Play Theater.

Start brainstorming wintry ice cream concoctions; kids' submissions are due by Thursday, November 15.

    About Anna Frye

After living in Chicago, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Colorado, my husband and I made our (hopefully? probably?) final move back to Louisville, where I was born and raised. Ahhh...it's nice to be home. Now I'm busy making sure my three little ones learn to love the quirks and traditions of their new hometown: Kentucky Derby Festival, no school on Oaks Day, grits and hot browns (not necessarily together), monograms, parks, festivals, and even our seasonal allergies.
