It’s all about wine at the upcoming Third Annual Commissioner’s Cup Gala.
The world of wine is so expansive that sometimes it’s easy to forget we have hard-working winemakers in our own state. That’s what the Commissioner’s Cup Gala, presented by the The Kentucky Wineries Association and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, is all about. Sure, you may be able to impress your friends with knowledge of Bordeaux and German whites (points if you’ve ever tried a gerwürztraminer!), but don’t turn your nose up at the variety of wines Kentucky has to offer, because our winemakers are seriously serving up some quality vino.
This Saturday, November 19th, the Commissioner’s Cup Gala will feature the best wines that Kentucky has to offer. First of all, for a wine to be featured at this event, it had to win a blind taste test held at the 2016 Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition & Commissioner’s Cup on October 29. Judges awarded gold medals to only the best of the best in categories such as Dry Red, Dry White, Rose/Blush and Sweet Dessert-Style/Fruit Wine.
Those who attend the Commissioner’s Cup Gala will not only get to try these award-winning wines, but will also be treated to hors d’oeuvres and a souvenir wine glass. Oh, and did I mention it’s at the Speed Museum this year?
