The Kentucky Derby is billed as the “most exciting two minutes in sports,” but Harbor House of Louisville's Ken-Ducky Derby is an experience unlike any other. Harbor House of Louisville’s signature 8th Annual Ken-Ducky Derby will take place on Saturday, September 24th, 2011. The event will be held at Festival Plaza which is near Joe's Crab Shack at Waterfront Park in Downtown Louisville; starting at noon and will end at 5:00 p.m.

Beginning in August, citizens of Metro-Louisville begin adopting rubber ducks from various locations throughout the city of Louisville. The winning duck in the duck race wins a new car. The ducks are $5.00 each, a “Quack Pack” family of six ducks for $25.00, a “Big Quack Pack” of 14 ducks for $50.00 and / or a “Flock of Ducks” of 30 ducks for $100.00. Rubber ducks are adopted by completing an “adoption form."

Each duck has an equal opportunity to win the grand prize, a 2011 Honda Fit, courtesy of Sam Swope Honda World, as well as many other prizes. You do not have to be present to win, but if you are there are other chances you will win additional prizes.

The Grand Prize is a 2011 Honda Fit, courtesy of Sam Swope Honda World. Second prize will be announced. Third prize is a $1,000.00 Republic Bank Savings Bond. Fourth prize is a $500.00 Republic Bank Savings Bond. Fifth prize is a $250.00 Republic Bank Savings Bond. There is a Million Dollar Duck sponsored by Joe’s Crab Shack.

Proceeds from the event benefit Harbor House of Louisville, a non-profit training and development center that empowers individuals with disabilities and their families to lead fulfilled and productive lives.

    About Bella Portaro

Happiness Cultivator. Blogger. Writer. Social Media and PR Maven. Dreamer. Louisville Lover. Blogger at Bella of Louisville; a lifestyle blog. A lifestyle is- by definition to me - the way in which one chooses to live their life. As I’ve entered into this chapter / book of my life with a strong understanding of who I am, lifestyle has become about the art of living well. This idea goes beyond creating a beautiful home and investing in my wardrobe. Living well means being kind, being good company, contributing to your community, and becoming a person of substance and grace. If designing a life full of substance and grace isn’t aspirational, I don’t know what else is. I love writing about events and things to do in Louisville. I hope you enjoy my posts and connect with me on social media!
