The Louisville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will hold the seventh annual Pink Tie Ball on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Louisville Downtown Marriott. The Pink Tie Ball, presented by ICAP Energy, is an elegant black-tie (pink-tie encouraged) gala featuring a pink champagne and cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, and a live auction.  A special reception for breast cancer survivors, hosted by Kroger will take place at 6:00 p.m.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for other attendees.

Claudia Coffey will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for the 2011 Ball, themed “Fleur de Pink”.  Upon arrival, guests will be treated to theme-inspired Fleur de Lis decor while sipping a signature "Fleur de Pink" cocktail or "Cure Royale".  Photos are available on the Pink Carpet just after registration.

Mayor Greg Fischer will deliver the survivor toast at the start of dinner and the Louisville Ballet will execute the Balloon Launch in honor and memory of cancer survivors.   Guests will dance the night away to the sounds of Burning Las Vegas.  Back by popular demand is the Pink Lounge (an after dinner ticket) that will open at 9:00pm.

Event Chairperson, Sarah Mitchell expects more than 700 courageous survivors and dedicated supporters to attend this remarkable event, making it one of the premier events in the Derby City. “I feel truly honored to be a part of an event that will not only give our supporters and survivors a chance to come together to celebrate our mission, but to also ensure continued support for all those touched by breast cancer in our community”, said Mitchell.

Since the first Pink Tie Ball in 2005, this event has raised over $1Million to support Komen Louisville’s mission of outreach, support and education.  Individual tickets are available for $225.  Breast Cancer Survivor Tickets are $150. Pink Lounge tickets are $75.  All tickets are available for purchase online at komenlouisville.org or by calling 502-584-CURE.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the Komen Louisville Affiliate

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. The Louisville Affiliate of Komen for the Cure is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community joining more than 1 million breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Pink Tie Ball and the Komen Louisville Race for the Cure®, the Louisville Affiliate has invested in excess of $4 Million in community breast health programs in their 8-county service area.  Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in the Louisville area community. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research.   For more information, call 502-584-CURE or visit komenlouisville.org

    About Bella Portaro

Happiness Cultivator. Blogger. Writer. Social Media and PR Maven. Dreamer. Louisville Lover. Blogger at Bella of Louisville; a lifestyle blog. A lifestyle is- by definition to me - the way in which one chooses to live their life. As I’ve entered into this chapter / book of my life with a strong understanding of who I am, lifestyle has become about the art of living well. This idea goes beyond creating a beautiful home and investing in my wardrobe. Living well means being kind, being good company, contributing to your community, and becoming a person of substance and grace. If designing a life full of substance and grace isn’t aspirational, I don’t know what else is. I love writing about events and things to do in Louisville. I hope you enjoy my posts and connect with me on social media!
