If you don’t know Louisville band Jenna Dean, then you are obviously missing out on a big opportunity to dance. It’s one of those contagious things.
Over the weekend, Jenna Dean, who deems their genre neo-soul hip hop, released a single called “Blown” and played its corresponding video at Seidenfaden’s in the middle of the jammin’ club scene, a very fitting setting. The video itself is the band in its element, a tight quartered venue playing to a lively dance floor.
“Blown” is a song to incite the party and it definitely succeeds. It has all the elements of it—funky bass line, a Daft Punk/Niles Rodgers-esque guitar hook that will make you think of “Get Lucky,” and the smooth rapper/singer combo.
And I’ve got a strong feeling that this nearly five minute track go on even longer once they jam it out. A DJ could play a full album of this kind of Jenna Dean and be set for the night.
