A few years back a close friend of mine turned me onto High on Fire, and at first I was kind of skeptical. This particular friend has a taste for a type of hardcore that I normally don't dig, but once I popped in this album is was all over, and I quickly found a band that was hard to not love. The album he gave me was "Death is This Communion," the band's fourth studio released album, and a kick ass rollercoaster of an album. Their newest album, released earlier this year is titled, "Snakes for the Divine," and is another album that once heard I couldn't imagine never having listened to it.
These guys have been around since the late 90s, and have toured with the likes of Mastodon and Metallica. Every hardcore head I know that lives locally, or within a few hundred miles of Louisville will be in attendance tonight for the show, because there's nothing to not like here if you're into heavy music that has melody and heart behind it. Be sure to make it out if free for the evening, and would like to check out a hell of a show. They're playing at Headliner's Music Hall at 1386 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky. 40206. Tickets are $15 in advance, and a few bucks more the day of the show. Doors open at 7pm.
