Hell hath plenty of fury if they can't keep getting fed human souls. That's where a psychiatrist comes in during The Screwtape Letters, which is to take place at the Brown Theatre this weekend.
The Screwtape Letters will take place on Sept. 28 at 4 and 8 p.m. Both performances are to happen at the Brown Theatre, located at 315 W Broadway in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for each show are $41.75-$71.75 per person, depending on the seat. All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777. Keep in mind, per the Screwtape Letters website, the 90-minute, no intermission show is recommended for those 13 and up. Children under four years old will not be allowed into the theatre.
Enter the office of Screwtape, the chief psychiatrist for Satan, and watch him help souls take the pleasant, soft path to Hell. As he works in this comedy, Screwtapes must not only keep souls away from Hell's enemy but also keep the residents of Hell fed. After all, human souls are the main source of food in Hell.
Screwtape does have help, however, from his assistant Toadpipe, who can transform into anything Screwtape needs to meet his goal.
The Screwtape Letters are based on the C.S. Lewis book of the same name. Max McLean directed the production, which features Brent Harris as Screwtape, and Marissa Molnar and Tamala Bakkensen as Toadpipe.
Previously, The Screwtape Letters enjoyed a 300+ performance run in New York City and has since been performed nationwide.
