A flesh-and-blood-eating plant wreaks havoc on a Skid Row flower shop in the dark comedy-musical “Little Shop of Horrors,” which Mind’s Eye Theatre Company will present at Kentucky Center starting this weekend.
In a Skid Row flower shop, an owner, Mr. Mushnik, and his two employees, Seymour and Audrey, are facing tough times. No one has come into the flower shop in quite some time, and it’s in danger of closing.
However, the group’s fortunes seemingly change thanks to the discovery of a weird species of plant. Seymour names it “Audrey II” in honor of his fellow co-worker and crush. The plant becomes a local sensation, which drives up desperately-needed sales at the flower shop.
The plant, however, has a secret need, which Seymour figures out and supplies - in any way possible. That need only grows bigger as Audrey II also grows bigger.
“Little Shop of Horrors” will take place on Sept. 11, 12, 15, 17, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. each night. Matinees, meanwhile, will go on Sept. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances will happen in the Mex Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located in downtown Louisville at 501 W. Main Street.
Tickets for all shows are $19 per person and can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, Kentucky Center website or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.
