Back before the days of the Internet, answering machines, and even TV, there was the Susanswerphone, a telephone answering service that included a lady, Ella, who listened in on people's conversations. When Ella is asked by a client, Jeff, to help battle his writer's block, Ella agrees. A romance brews but faces challenges like trying to fit in and people thinking the answering service is a front for something more.
Adolph Green and Betty Comden created the book and lyrics for Bells Are Ringing with music from Jule Styne. For As Yet Unnamed, Sandy Richens Cohrs directed the production.
