When listening to The Foxery's new record or watching their show, anyone should see and hear an unmatched passion from six guys who are pouring all of themselves in their songs.
With their new music video for "Broken Vessel," a song that came off that debut album called "Unless" released on September 9, you see another side of the sextet, a goofy one.
The Foxery has a picnic. That picnic turns into a food fight and the food fight turns into a performance in the woods.
In the video, the audience can understand how these silly guys are on and off the stage. Keyboardist and percussionist Travis Beck told New Noise Magazine, "We wanted to show people that although we may make music that explores a lot of questions and dark places, all in all we’re just a bunch of goofballs that love to have fun and laugh at ourselves." The video is a reflection of the songs: bare bones, raw, and all passion.
One small thing you might miss if you don't watch closely is when they all grab hands around the table and bless the food. A listener might let this pass by but The Foxery do much of their performance with God in mind. The placement of those few seconds in the video is a personal move and something the band feels strongly about.
You can catch The Foxery tonight in Bowling Green. They will be playing Louisville on November 23 at Tim Faulkner Gallery. Their debut album is out now so check your local record store for availability.
