World renown, Louisville native, minstrels My Morning Jacket (MMJ) is the highlight for many at this year’s festival.  There isn’t much to say that hasn’t already been said, but I’ve had the blessed fortune to witness MMJ in action around the world.  On the ‘Evil Urges’ tour, I witnessed them crush London only to lose my souvenir t-shirt to the feminine wiles of a vixen not to be further mentioned.  That show was very significant, and cherished, for me as it was literally a case of seeing a band from your hometown sell out in London and solidifying their monumental contribution to the world of music.

Not faltering from my quest to continue witnessing such musical sorcery I had subsequently moved back to NYC in 2009, and thanks to a dear old friend Leigh Davidson, had access to tickets for MMJ’s 5 day residency at NYC’s Terminal 5.  For this one big holiday, they lads decided to play a different album, in its entirety, for every show with some special additions as well.  Magical doesn’t do the shows justice as they even closed the ‘It Still Moves’ show with Celebration that would have certainly melted the jheri curl of Kool and the Gang themselves.

For those fortunate souls who will be in attendance, you are all in for a real treat.  Be sure and hit the Mast Stage, come 9:30 Saturday, and close the night with worldwide, hometown, rock stars beasting on real live instruments.
