"The ghost stories, murder ballads, and grimoires on the new full length album "If Then Not When" by Louisville, KY's King's Daughters & Sons are haunting, spare and at times explosively unsettling; part William Faulkner, part Led Zeppelin." (KDAS Website) Now you may find this a bold comparison, but I’ve got to say it’s pretty dead on (pun intended). The sytle they exume is similar to that of a darker facet, yet often embodies such crafted melodies that it's not going to make you want to leap from the 2nd Street Bridge.
Louisville Magazine’s panel of experts’ member, Peter Berkowitz, dubbed KDAS front man Joe Manning as ‘a real wordsmith, a comedian-philosopher of sorts, with one of the finest beards in a bearded town. Plus, he can sing.’ Manning was also voted ‘Best Local Front man’ by the same panel. Not being able to grow a beard myself there are many an envious beard in this bunch, but obviously that compares not to their sound. You can feel it and if you miss it, well you’ll just hate yourself.
