“Pickled and bosh” is how Houndmouth describes themselves on their Facebook page. However, I disagree that they are food preserved in vinegar and nonsense. They are an indie/Americana band that dabbles in country, folk, and rock & roll. Houndmouth is originally from New Albany, Indiana (12 minutes by car from Louisville) and formed in 2011. The group consists of a guitarist (Matt Myers), keyboardist (Katie Toupin), bassist (Zak Appleby), and a drummer (Shane Cody). All four members sing with flawless harmonization. They’ve recently performed on Conan and will perform on Letterman 7/10/13. Their album, “From the Hills Below the City” was just released in June. And includes great songs like “On the Road,” “Hey Rose,” “Penitentiary,” and “Ludlow.” Catch Houndmouth’s show Friday, July 12th on the Mast Stage at 6:30pm.
