We see you appreciate a good vintage. But there comes a time to try something new. Click here to head over to the redesigned Louisville.com. It's where you'll find all of our latest work. And plenty of the good ol' stuff, too, looking better than ever.

    Bit to Do

It is an unfortunate fact that books can be expensive.  Sleek dust jackets, creamy, tight caliper paper and tempting cover designs all converge to create an alluring package for the eyes, but can be a drain on the wallet.  In our technology-driven world filled with smart phones and Kindles, printed books may be on the cusp of becoming a labor of love – something endearing like vinyl records.  The recent closing of a prominent, global bookseller should be testimony enough.  Is your bookcase lonely?

Dust off your shelves, turn off your laptop and grab a sturdy bag.  The Locust Grove Summer Used Book Sale is stocked to round out your personal library with thrifty prices!  More than 10,000 used, antiquarian and new books will be offered for sale this Friday, August 26 – Sunday, August 28. Prices begin at $1 for paperbacks and $2 for most hardcovers.  An individually priced selection of illustrated books, rare books and sets will also be available – everybody needs at least one leather-bound classic to show off.

A multitude of categories will be on display for your browsing pleasure, including: history, biography, reference, science fiction, travel, cookbooks, mystery, children’s, Kentucky, spirituality, crafts and many more.  My own personal finds from past sales have included titles from Rudyard Kipling, Virginia Woolf, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Vladimir Nabokov.  And, of course, no shortage of Shakespeare.  Tax deductible book donations will also be accepted at any time during open hours.

Bring your cash and a friend; a healthy stack of new books for your next lazy afternoon at the coffee shop awaits you.

    Long live The Book!

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
