Carnivorous plants are invading Kentuckiana’s favorite dinner theater, Derby Dinner Playhouse, as Little Shop of Horrors opens next week.
If you’ve never seen the play or the movie, Derby Dinner’s website describes it as “a musical about a floral shop assistant who raises an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon his plant grows into an ill-tempered, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame in exchange for feeding his growing appetite.”
The songs, written by Alan Menken of Disney fame, have been beautifully crafted to represent classic genres such as doo-wop and Motown.
The production will run from Tuesday, February 19 through Saturday, March 30. Ticket prices range from $36 for a matinee to $40 for an evening show. The ticket includes a meal with a variety of entrees, sides, and a salad bar plus admission to the show. To order tickets, visit www.derbydinner.com.
