    2016 Kentucky State Fair

    It's that time of year again! The Kentucky State Fair begins Thursday, August 18 and runs until Sunday, August 28. Come out to the Expo Center to experience the animals, showcases, contests, concerts, fair food, and of course the Midway. Even if you came last year...and the year before that...the State Fair promises a fun-filled day for the whole family. Check out our website for the daily schedules.

    Pokemon Go Nights at Slugger Field

    "Pokemania" is coming to Louisville Slugger Field! Come catch 'em all with the Bats on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 as we host two nights full of Pokemon Go. Enjoy special game night Pokemon Go promotions, contests, discounted ticket options and more! There will be lures activated on the PokeStops near the field for the full three hours each night, and don't forget about our Gym! There will also be contests for the most Pokemon caught and the strongest Pokemon caught, with prizes for the winners both Friday and Saturday.

    Whiskey Sour Day at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse

    Jim Beam is kicking off Whiskey Sour Day by celebrating this classic cocktail on Friday at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse. Whiskey lovers  (of legal drinking age) are invited to a day filled with bourbon tastings, live music and insight into the history and heritage of Jim Beam with the 7th generation Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe.     Girls' Night Out Dress Swap

    Clean out your closets, ladies! Let's have a fun girls night out while raising money for a great organization! Here's how it works: Your admission fee is a gently-used dress or purse from your closet (you can bring up to 10 items). Your items will be displayed along with everyone else's and everything will be available for purchase for $20. You get to make some room in your closet, get fabulous deals on like-new items and have a great time with friends all for a great cause. All the proceeds will go directly to my service trip to Kenya through the Africa Yoga Project. So, it's really a win-win for everyone!

    Louisville Visual Art, in partnership with Center for Neighborhoods and Louisville Metro Government, announces Louisville's first ever city-wide mural initiative: MAP!     Shop N Rock Concert at Westport Village

    Rumours and Radiotronic Perform at the Jeffersonville RiverStage

    Every Friday, local and regional bands will perform on the RiverStage as part of their summer concert series. This weekend, come see Rumours (a Fleetwood Mac tribute band) perform with Radiotronic! Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome. No alcohol is permitted. Food vendors and a beer garden are available on site.

    An Evening of Jazz at the KCD Theater

    Join Lincoln Foundation for the 21st Annual Evening of Jazz on August 19 at The KCD Theater located on the Kentucky Country Day Campus. The evening of exceptional entertainment will benefit the Whitney M. Young Scholars Program. This year’s concert will feature The Dick Sisto/Steve Allee Quartet with Jeremy Allen and Jason Tiemann playing original music from their recent nationally acclaimed CD entitled “Earth Tones."

    Muhammad Ali Center | Jill's Wish Fighter Fun Run 5K

    The Jill's Wish Fighter Fun Run 5K, presented by Anthem and named in honor of the Jill’s Wish Foundation co-founder and breast cancer fighter Jill Conley, will take place this Saturday! The timed run/walk will start at the Muhammad Ali Center, wind through beautiful Waterfront Park and then end back at the Ali Center. Walkers and strollers are welcome.     Louisville Quest!: The New Adventure

    A sight-seeing tour, scavenger hunt and race, all rolled into one. Our New Adventure Route starts at the corner of 4th and Market and explores the fun locations in downtown Louisville. Each team will receive a packet of puzzles to solve and will encounter some fun challenges along the way! All Quests end with an award ceremony where teams compare notes and enjoy refreshments, and the top teams earn token awards.

    3rd Annual Boots & BBQ Bash

    Third Annual Boots & BBQ Bash, a fundraiser benefiting the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health, with support from the Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Foundation. The evening will include silent and live auctions, dinner and live music from Nervous Melvin and The Mistakes.     Hummingbird Festival at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens

    Always a summer favorite! Yew Dell’s Hummingbird Festival offers the opportunity for all to learn about these amazing little birds, what makes them tick, how to attract them, how to keep them coming and a whole lot more. Local experts will catch and band birds, offering an excellent opportunity to see them up close and learn about Hummingbird research. We will have hummingbird plants for sale, kid’s activities, refreshments, tours and photography tips – so don’t forget the camera and binoculars!
