Melissa d’Arabian, star of Food Network’s “Ten Dollar Dinners” and best-selling author of Supermarket Healthy, will be at The Olmsted on June 3 to share her inspiring story of overcoming tragedy and how it led her to become a celebrity chef.

Melissa lost her mother to suicide at only 20 years old and although devastating, she grew as a mother, a wife, a woman, and a friend. “Most days, I like who I see in the mirror. I am pretty sure my mom does, too,” she said in an article on Communitytable.com.

On ‘Ten Dollar Dinners’, Melissa shares with viewers how to integrate creative and tasty meals into every household by sharing her budget-friendly recipes. She is also an expert of how to eat healthy at home, meal tips and coping with picky eaters, in which she will share these tips at Go Confidently.

Melissa refers to lessons she learned about the loss of her mother and the decade-long crisis of faith as an emergence. An emergence of happiness, of empathy, and of reflection. She reflected on being the proprietor of her own happiness, empathy towards her loss, misunderstanding of her mother’s death, and most importantly, the gift of making someone else happy to commemorate the loss of her mother. Melissa will make brownies for a neighbor or write an overdue note to a relative to commemorate her mother’s death by contributing something to the world. These acts of kindness are an inspiration to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.

Go Confidently was created to inspire people to realize their full potential through thoughtful discussions on health-related topics of interest. Join Melissa as she speaks about overcoming the loss of her mother and how it led her to become a celebrity chef, television host, best-selling author and mom of four. You can register here.
