The Kentucky Science Center hosted the 4th Annual exBEERiment last night, Thursday, October 8, as a part of their Adult Series. exBEERiment let tasters explore the KY Science Center in its entirety while sipping on some delicious local brews. The event was 21+ but the center was very much still full of kids. Adults were able to have fun, explore and show-off or rediscover their youthful spirits.
Louisville’s very own Squeeze-bot played at the entrance of the center, at the bottom of the inner opening, allowing tasters to hear them from nearly anywhere.
Brewgrass Homebrew Supply educated tasters on the science of brewing. If you’re interested in honing your brewing skills, check them out over on Preston St. in Louisville.
The Frazier History Museum displayed prohibition era artifacts from their upcoming exhibition, Spirits of the Bluegrass: Prohibition and Kentucky. If you missed it or want to learn more, the exhibition opens October 29.
A couple of young scientists became the Bill Nyes, the Science Gals of exBEERiment as they created nitrogen ice cream with West Sixth’s Cocoa Porter. The demonstration was fun to watch and the ice cream was chillingly good!
One of the most thrilling moments of the evening was getting to play Midway’s Tapper on KY Science Center’s 4-Story Digital Theater! In partners, one moved Tapper left/right and operated the tap controller, which was an actual tap! The other moved Tapper up/down.
There were some other fun games, too: Beer Pong with traditional Ping-Pong balls as well as a version with 6 large trash cans and giant inflatable balls; a line to test your soberness with a set of Beer Goggles, which was double the trouble as some weren’t sober to begin with; and, of course, all the fun stuff that’s part of the regular exhibits like a giant Light Bright!
That’s just a glimpse of the fun that was had at exBEERiment. Don’t miss out on the other Adult Series events — they’re sure to be a blast, too!
Dates for the 2016 Adult Series have been announced: hypotheSIPS is March 3, GAMEology is May 19 and megaBITE is set for June 16. All events are on a Thursday and are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers. Hope to see you there!
