Five time Emmy Award winner Doris Roberts will be in town for the Kentucky Derby as a guest of the Louisville Film Arts Institute. She will attend the Mint Jubilee to benefit the James Graham Brown Cancer Center on Friday night as well as the Kentucky Derby on Saturday in addition to other local appearances.
Roberts is best known for her role as the nosy, insufferable, and manipulative Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. For her work on the series, she was nominated for seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (won four). She also won an Emmy for a guest role on St. Elsewhere as a homeless woman; and was nominated for her role as Marie Krebs on Remington Steele and for appearances on ABC sitcom Perfect Strangers and PBS special The Sunset Gang.
Additional television and film credits include National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Alice, Barney Miller, Full House, Soap, Step by Step and Lizzie McGuire among others. Roberts received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
Conrad Bachmann, Co-Founder of the Louisville Film Arts Institute and five term Governor of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences which produces the Emmys, is delighted to confirm Roberts attendance.
