The Va Va Vixens burlesque troop is arguably the most talented group of performers in Louisville. They've regularly put on shows that contain music, dancing, gravity-defying acrobats, and brain bending contortionists. Now, after nearly a decade of amazing show after amazing show – they’re excited to be expanding into their own large theater at the Art Sanctuary. A statement from Lisa Frye, the head Vixen in charge, said this on the troupe’s Go Fund Me page:
“We are finally moving to the BIG room at Art Sanctuary and there are still some important items that we need! Once we get there, we will have our very own Va Va Venue!”
The Art Sanctuary, is a nonprofit performance venue, rehearsal studio, and work space for artists of any medium is in Germantown, has been slowly expanding to fill the entire building. Moving into “The Big Room” is the next logical step for The Vixens and The Art Sanctuary. Frye goes on to explain how the new theater will affect The Va Va Vixens and future performances: “The new space will allow us to finally show you the things we've always dreamed a Va Va Vixens show can be. We'll be able to expand the show out into the entire space, surrounding and immersing the audience and creating Vixens shows that are bigger and bolder than anything you have ever seen!”
To complete the move into the new larger event space they still need to purchase and install a new lighting system, a new rigging system, and a new sound system. All three of which are costly expenditures for a nonprofit like The Art Sanctuary, so the Vixens have turned it over to their loyal fans and the supporters of art in Louisville by creating a Go Fund Me page.
