Go ahead and chalk another up for Kentucky music festivals, because the list just got bigger.
When the NiFi Festival announced its existence on May 6, it sort of flew under the radar. But when the limeup was announced today, Rolling Stone was already reporting on it.
NiFi is a country and rock festival taking place at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky August 28-30. Headlining the eclectic festival are Green Day, Miranda Lambert and Kings of Leon, with Brantley Gilbert, Jake Owen, Weezer, Spoon, Hank Williams Jr. and more following them in the lineup.
The NiFi Festival is the first in a series of national fests launched by Nitro Fidelity, a California-based entertainment group, and Speedway Motorsports, Inc., the auto racing corporation that owns eight of America's most popular speedways. Festivals at speedways in Dallas and Charlotte are planned for 2016 with more to come after that.
Attendance for NiFi Festival is projected at 30,000. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on May 28, and first tier three-day general admission tickets will cost $245. When those sell out, tickets will cost $295, then $325. NiFi’s VIP ticket, called an "Ignite Pass," will cost $795. According to NiFi, single day tickets may be available much closer to the festival date in limited quantities.
NiFi also plans to have Bonnaroo-esque camping. Car camping will be free, but luxury camping will also be provided. The festival will provide tents that include queen beds, twin beds and cots.
