Last fall, Resurfaced opened behind the empty façades of 615-621 West Main Street to much success. If you have not seen or heard of Resurfaced, the urban area's mission is to explore creative ways to pre-vitalize vacant and underutilized urban spaces by creating low-cost investments that activate the space now rather than waiting for big, long-term developments to take shape. The year Resurfaced has a bourbon theme.
The space was packed most every weekend during last year’s fall installment and organizers have completed the activity schedule hoping for the same. Hopefully Mother Nature is on their side.
Resurfaced will be open to the public with activities every Thursday through Saturday in June except Saturday, June 20 from 5 p.m. - midnight.
This weekend’s schedule is as follows:
Thursday
9:00 Slow Down Johnny
10:00 The Wooks
Friday
9:30 Free Soul Effect
10:30 DJ Sam Sneed
Saturday
8:00 Impromptu jams w/ special guests
10:00 Open rehearsals w/ 1200 + special guests
Saturday's schedule is a bit interesting as most of it will be left up to Louisville. Jecorey “1200” Arthur will be involved in a house band that also includes Joan Shelley and members of the Louisville Orchestra. The entire city is invited to bring their own instruemtns and jam with them as they will change personnel each song and by song they mean they will pick a key and just start. Nothing will be prepared for this performance. Many surprises are in store.
