This Saturday from noon until the party ends, The Highlands will celebrate its tenth anniversary of Bardstown Bound along Baxter Avenue, Bardstown Road and the Douglas Loop. The theme of this year’s festivities is “Keep On Cluckin’,” with a Highland Chicken Dance to take place on the lawn of Tony BoomBozz Taphouse on Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road promptly at 5:00 p.m. The participants will be led in the chicken-flavored footwork by The Alley Theatre, with visual artist Kenn Parks acting as Lead Chicken; two more dances will follow, though the latter dances will be “for fun” according to the press release.
If shaking it for the ghost of Colonel Sanders doesn’t do it for you, ValuMarket at Mid City Mall will hold their first-ever Spring Beer Festival from 5 to 9 p.m., perfect for those who may have missed out on the brews offered by the local supermarket chain during last week’s Buy Local Fair. Of course, should you want to start your drinking a bit earlier, you can join your fellow drinkers at the Bambi Bar beginning at 1 p.m. for the Bambi Walk featuring the Thirsty Pedaler.
Along Bardstown and Baxter, many shops, restaurants and bars will have specials and other activities for all to enjoy, from General Eccentric selling Bambi Walk tees at $10 each with all proceeds going to Dare to Care, to Big Bar celebrating its first anniversary of operation. TARC will have trolley service going up and down Baxter and Bardstown from 2 to 10 p.m., Larry-Oke will be at BoomBozz and Anselmo’s, and you can even say hello to the Bardstown Bound Chicken prior to enjoying some chicken at participating restaurants.
