    Bit to Do

It may be Monday, but it’s not too early to look forward to the weekend. The Highlands celebrates its 7th annual Bardstown Bound summer sidewalk celebration this coming Saturday, May 15, from noon to “whenever.” Live bands and sidewalk karaoke (bagpipe singalongs, anyone?), shopping specials (and later hours), sampling (BBC, of course) and alfresco fashion shows (‘cause you’re beautiful) highlight Louisville’s favorite street and surrounding area.

If you aren’t up for the whole walk from the Douglass Loop to Lexington Avenue, the trolley will run up and down Bardstown Road from 4–9 p.m. Out on the street, dogs are welcome too, with a pet station at UPS with water bowls and free biscuits. For thirsty grownups, various locations (including O’Shea’s and Flanagan’s on Baxter Avenue) will feature “Bubbly Hour” with Bluegrass Brewing Company’s craft beers on tap.

A partial list of sponsor participants includes WHY Louisville, Rigolo, Amazing Grace Whole Foods, Kizito Cookies, Heine Bros. Coffee, General Eccentric, Impellizzeri’s Pizza, Coco’s Chocolate Café, Fleur de Lis (formerly known as Sweet and Savory) and Avalon.

The event is sponsored by the Highlands Commerce Guild, TheHighlandsofLouisville.com and BBC Beer Company. And, besides being a day and night of fun, participating merchants will donate a portion of their proceeds to Gilda’s Club of Louisville, to help those touched by cancer enjoy these late spring days too.
